 Industrial Training
Part of the requirement for your civil or environmental engineering degree is a minimum of sixty days of Industrial Training (IT). Apart from being compulsory, IT is a great opportunity to make some money during the holidays and will make you more appealing to future employers. Doing IT will also help you find out which area of civil or environmental engineering you might like to get into after graduation. It is your responsibility to organise IT, because finding work is an important experience in itself. Suggested methods of finding an employer include: - Coming along to our "Corporate Socials" throughout the year to meet company representatives face to face.
- Attending the Engineers Australia Careers Expo in March each year. You must be a student member to attend, join and register online for free at: www.ieaust.org.au.
- Check out the "Careers" section of the Engineers Australia website (as above) throughout the year.
- Talk to older students, staff or the school’s IT coordinator (check with the school office on the 4th floor in the Civil building).
- Search the internet or yellow pages, or an industry directory.
- Look at the list of industry partners that support our school.
